"Where girls grow strong"
Cookies
When do the cookies get here? All cookies that are ordered in
January will arrive on the barge usually the first week in March.
This year we anticipate an arrival of around March 8th. The girls
will then deliver the cookies and collect the money. They have until
April 4 to turn the money in.
How much do cookies cost? The cookies are $ 3.50 a box or $
42.00 for a case of 12 boxes. We will take orders for as many
boxes as you like as long as you have the money to pay for them
when they arrive in March.
What is the Gift of Caring? This is a program where customers
can by extra boxes of cookies that we can donate. Last year we
donated over 50 boxes tho the Senior Citizens. This is the first
column on the order form, just mark how many extra boxes the
person would like to buy for donation. Then total them with any
other cookies the customer ordered on the far right. This is also a
way for people who do not want to buy cookies (because of a diet,
etc...) but would like to help out Girl Scouts. The customer however
doesn't get to choose what kind of cookies that are donated. This
is determined by what cookies we have left extra. When you deliver
your cookies you also need to collect the money for the Gift of
Caring cookies but you will not deliver and Gift of Caring Cookies
to any customer. Those cookies will be kept by the leaders to be
donated to a program the girls have picked out.
Payments for Cookies: Please do not collect any money for
cookies until they are delivered. It is easier and less confusing that
way. If you do collect money before then, please give it to a leader
and get a receipt, or keep it in a safe place. You are responsible
for the money until it is turned into a leader. We accept cash,
checks or money orders made payable to Girl Scouts. Please do
not give anyone any cookies until they are paid for. The
parent that signed the permission form is responsible for the money
and the cookies, until they are turned back into a leader.
What if a customer can't pay for cookies? We ask that you try
several times to collect from the person that placed the order. If
they then say they don't want them or can't pay for them you are
free to sell them to someone else. You can also turn them back into
a leader. Either way all unsold cookies and money have to be
turned back into a leader by April 4, 2006.
What happens if the money is short? Make sure every
customer gives you the proper amount for the cookies. We ask
that younger girls do not deliver cookies or collect money without a
parent or much older sibling to help. If you have delivered all the
cookies and the money is short you are responsible to make up the
difference. By signing the permission form you agreed to take
responsibility for the ,cookies and the money. If money is lost you
will have to replace it. We are accountable to the Tongass Alaska
Girl Scout Council in Juneau to make sure everything is collected
and turned back into them.
What happens if the money is over? If you do end up with extra
money please turn it in with the rest. It will go into the troop account
to be used by the girls for something special like trips, parties and
events.
What do I do if I am short cookies? When you pick up your
cookies you need to count them with a leader and sign for them.
When you get them home and before you deliver any cookies to
anyone you need to double check your order again right away. If
you are short then call a leader and we will try and correct it if we
can on that day. If you wait to long we may not be able to do
anything about it. So please make sure you have all the cookies
you signed for before you deliver.
What are Incentives? These are prizes that the girls earn for
selling cookies. They are given to the girls form Little Brownie
Bakers, the company that makes our cookies. The incentives vary
from patches, pens, stuffed animals, clothing etc..Right now
Shayne Guthrie has the record she sold over 600 boxes of cookies
and received every prize they offered that year. But no matter how
many or how few boxes a girl sells she will get something.
Will there be extra cookies for sale? We greatly encourage
everyone who wants cookies to order them. We usually have a
few extras that will be available in late March or early April.
However what kinds and how much we can't say, and the popular
kinds go fast. We also try to only order what we have orders for.
This is because in years past we got stuck with extra cookies we
were unable to sell and the ended up taking a loss. If you have
someone that is interested in buying the extras we have please
give a leader a call to see what is available and to make
arrangements.

All cookie money should be handed in. If you have some customers that
still need to pay you can keep those cookies and still try and collect.
Please hand in what money you do have now and the rest later. If after
several attempts your customers still can not pay for their cookies you
can either hand the cookies back into us or sell the cookies to someone
else. As long as we get either the cookies or the money back for them. If
you have any questions please give us a call. If you are interested in
buying some cookies. We do have extra please contact Theresa for
purchase.
